History or background of award

This scholarship was established in 2009, through the Victoria University Foundation, from a bequest from the estate of Mr. Ian Pollard to support talented students of the organ at the New Zealand School of Music.

Purpose of award

Applicants must be enrolled the New Zealand School of Music and be a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand. The award is designed to support talented undergraduate or postgraduate students of the organ and selection will be based on merit. If the selection panel in their discretion consider no person in a particular year to be a suitable recipient of the benefit under the principal purpose, funds may be provided for a visiting fellow in organ whose work enhances the preservation of performance, training and/or development of organ music at the New Zealand School of Music.
